Our field is affected by both internally- and externally-generated electromagnetic and biochemical signals which are received at the cellular level. It is through such signals that the body and the brain communicate. When we are calm and relaxed, all the body's systems function optimally. When we perceive a threat, whether it is real or imagined, the body's stress response is activated. This shuts down all nonessential systems that don't support our ability to either do battle or run away (fight or flight), causing muscular and venous contractions that shunt blood away from many parts of the body. If we are chronically anxious, angry or worried, the body spends long stretches in 'red alert' mode and many of the contractions become habitual, blocking the free circulation not only of blood but of the currents of our energy field. Over time, this manifests as disease in the mental, physical or emotional body. Trauma in the form of physical or emotional injuries also become lodged in the body's cellular memory, creating blockages to the free circulation of energy through the body which then impedes the healing process. Integrative Mindworks' energy or 'vibrational' healing traditions include Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Reiki, Biovalent Systems, Yogic Chakra Clearing, Quantum Touch, Core Transformation, Light Body and Reconnective Healing. All of these styles use the practitioner as a facilitator to release energy blockages and restore the free flow of life-force, 'ki', 'chi' or 'prana', thus restoring the client's own innate power to heal her- or himself. Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a form of energy psychology. Its creator, Gary Craig, distilled EFT from the discipline of Thought Field Therapy, developed by psychologist Dr. Roger Callahan. EFT employs fast and effective techniques that combine the principles of acupressure with that of modern counseling to free up and release emotional trauma and physical and emotional pain. It is useful in defusing self-sabotaging thoughts and behavioral patterns, dissolving fears and phobias, and breaking up general stagnation and self-limiting beliefs about any given topic. The premise behind EFT is that all negative emotion is the result of a 'glitch' or short-circuit in the body's electromagnetic energy system. It joins other, better known disciplines such as chiropractic, acupressure and acupuncture in this Eastern-based approach to wellness and healing. EFT can be self-administered or facilitated by a practitioner. In private client sessions I use EFT as a stand-alone process or combine EFT with hypnotherapeutic processes incorporating therapeutic dialogue and guided visualization. You can receive energy healing lying down, sitting up or even standing, however you are most comfortable. You need simply be ready to receive the loving energy of the universe as you open to healing in your own way and your own time. This process tends to be deeply restorative and relaxing during the interactive phase, and continues its work after your session at the appropriate pace for you. In all healing practices you may find that one session provides great relief for a particular problem, or you may wish to have a series of sessions for conditions that have existed for some time or are deeply entrenched.
